Ring Removal Safety

Ring Removal Safety

Safety is important to me. And while the idea of creating custom stone rings thrills me, I wanted to make sure we did it right. That’s why, during the development of the stainless steel Signpost Signet ring, we tested to make sure the 7mm wide stainless steel ring could be safely cut so as to be removed from a finger. We picked up an inexpensive ring cutter from Amazon and tested cutting the ring. The stainless steel was cut without issue using the cutter and my Dad was able to slip his finger from the ring.

You generally don’t want to cut into your precious jewelry - so why is cutting a ring so important? When an unexpected event happens and your finger is injured, it can swell and a ring restricts blood flow. If a ring cannot be removed, you risk losing your finger! All hospitals and emergency services carry a ring cutter to prioritize your medical care over your ring. Waystone will never carry titanium as an option for rings as they are just too difficult to cut and remove quickly and safely. Got another metal you’re interested in?
